Crossroads Riddarhyttan 4-6/6
The 2nd Crossroads Symposium
SIDELIGHTS – a future dialogue.
- A meeting with European and Swedish theatres, researchers, actionists, writers, actors and producers.
Background:
The purpose of the Crossroads Symposium is to meet in an informal framework, to share experiences and knowledge and to initiate conversations, collaborations and networks. The Crossroads Symposium is an open and unbiased room that explores the age in which we live, inspires us to take part of history and test possible roads towards the future in whose shadow we constantly reside.
The ambition is to visualize the complexities of concepts and ideas by gathering stage artists, researchers and producers to a broadening course for us all where we can meet each other. The performances, lectures, working-groups, concerts and discussions are intended to expand our knowledge, to help us share each others experiences and to activate a dialogue that takes the questions about the future of stage art seriously. Within that conversation the questions regarding class, identity, ethnicity, gender, language and physical expression are urgent topics to discuss.
Which topics/materials and forms are important in stage art?
Who defines the qualities and conditions of stage art?
Who are the target groups of stage art? Who makes that decision?
Who controls the assets and why?
Where is the new stage art sprouting?
What ways are there to develop new production methods?
What does the cultural/political climates look like in the participating countries? What do they involve?
What can/should those working with culture do in a broad perspective? What responsibilities do the artists have?
Which historical experiences have been made, which ones are being made right this minute and how do they affect the future?
The 2nd Crossroads Symposium is intended for stage artists, producers, arrangers, institutions and students with a heartfelt interest for stage art, its future and its possible implications.
